A list of some of the major technical equipment mentioned in the movies

The following list is not exhaustive. It is merely a reiteration of the equipment we have seen it in a movie. Access to these devices may be limited, and a character should not assume that they could procure some unless they are in active service in an occupation that requires them in which case they are probably part of their Standard Issue Kit.

Alien4 Armed Forces Usefull means of identification. Assumedly it recognises specific chemical signatures of people’s breath. Not very reliable.

Pirate Smile vials of gas with chemical properties that suit most breath types. Hard to get but very reliable and fits on a key ring.
[Call overrode Perez’s security lock in only three tries.]

Civillian Motion Tracker
Alien No general category.
Rare item. It is rare for a civilian to need this sort of technology but a device can be configured to respond to micro-changes in air density. Only useful when target is moving.

Clones
Alien4 Breeder Even in the future cloning is a far from succesful venture Only one in ten clones are viable. Each failure is stored in large capsules filled with fluid to study and correct errors. They range from being nearly all human to nearly pulp, with some grotesque combinations in between.
[Clone #8 of Lt. Ripley is the first success of the scientists on the USM Auriga.]

Colonist Personal Data Transmitter
Aliens Colonist Implanted subdermally into every colonist to aid with search and rescue.
[The population of LV 426 were traced by using their PDTs]

Cryotube
All All deep space travelers Not the safest or most comfortable way to fly. These coffin like devices with a clear front are used to suspend a persons aging process for the duration of a long interstellar travel. Prolonged usage can have severe detrimental effects as can irregular interruption of the process.
[Being suspended meant Purvis was unable to respond to the Pirate raid on his ship]

Laser Scalpel
Alien4 Medic Precision surgical cutting instrument.
[Dr Gediman used one in the removal of the Alien Queen]

Marine Armour
Aliens Marine Hudson modeling CSM armour Outer layer: Ultra-light Titanium Aluminide alloy
Middle layer: Boron Carbide resin
Inner layer: Graphite-composite Carbon-fiber
Liner: 1500 woven Venlar fibers
The Armoured Vest is designed for both comfort and protection. It consists of several materials sandwiched together to create a protective shell. The armour's stopping power is limited against direct hits and high-velocity ammunition, but is effective in stopping low-powered ammunition. It also provides limited protection against explosive bullets and fragments from grenades or artillery. Its curved and rounded surfaces reduce its radar signature and it has infrared masking. Remote biomonitors in the interior read the wearer's lifesigns, including heart rate and respiration.

Marine Helmet
Aliens Marine Fitted with microphones, cameras, infra-red visors and some life function monitors.
[Drake fixed his by bashing it hard]

Marine Motion Tracker
Aliens Marine Highly sophisticated and accurate. Complicated to understand unless you are familiar with them. Uses light and sound to indicate proximity. Only useful when target is moving.

Marine PDT Tracer
Aliens Marine A small device the size of a pen torch which displays the range to the target PDT in meters. Not really very helpful.
[Ripley managed to find Newt using this device strapped to her gun]

Marine Personal Data Transmitter
Aliens Marine A wrist device the size and shape of a watch.
[Hicks gave one to Ripley who then gave it to Newt]

Marine Shoulder Lamp
Aliens Marine Designed to produce large amounts of light while still leaving the hands free.
[All of Apone’s group wore them in their initial entry into the Colony buildings on LV 426]

Marine Welding Torch
Aliens Marine Small hand held devices that produce a huge amount of energy at their nozzle. Capable of welding shut almost anything given enough time.
[Instrumental in sealing the doors of LV 426]

Prepackaged Alcohol
Alien4 No general category.
Expensive item. Designed for easy transport, this form of cryogenic storage of perishables is probably used for other foodstuffs as well.
[General Perez offered Elgan a glass of frozen alcohol from a small, pull open storage capsule]

Power Loader
Aliens Labourer !01 uses! Frame: Anthropomorphic exoskeletal power frame
Lifting Capability: 4,000 kg
Chassis: Reinforced steel
Fuel: Hydrogen fuel cell
The Powerloader is the primary loader used for logistic and support operations. Its anthropomorphic exoskeletal frame allows for great flexibility handling ordinance and cargo and can be used for heavy maintenance when away from fixed workshops. The Powerloader is designed to exactly mimic the movements of the operator. Leg and arm motions are controlled through linear motors slaved to the operator's movements. The manipulators are controlled by a handgrip/joystick combination on the inside of each limb and points for various maintenance tools are attached at the ends.
[Ripley used this to fight the Queen Alien on the Sulaco]

Remote Access Laptop Terminal
Aliens Marine, Engineer Designed to operate devices at a distance. This unit can technically be used by anyone who can operate the device it is linked to. Any device with a remote link modem can be accessed provided it is in range. The range can be boosted by using external aerials, etc.
[Hicks used one to access the Auto Sentries, and Bishop used one to pilot the second Drop ship from the Sulaco]

Sonic Lance
Alien Medic A basic scalpel that uses focused sonic vibrations to open surgical lesions.
[Ash used one in attempting to remove the Face Hugger from Kane’s face]
