Hay’Legh watched as the girl left the room and then turned to look at Jared.

“That sounds more like a setup than anything yet – I hate it when factions have internal bickering. It makes the business of escaping much more difficult. And I do not like to be ordered around by girl I know nothing about.”

Jared shrugged.

"Could hardly make the situation worse. I mean, if it's a trap... well we're already trapped as it is. They could already guess we want to escape, so they're not learning much. The worst that could happen is that they'll be waiting outside to say 'Bwahaha! You thought you'd escape, but we tricked you!'"

"That I personally can live with."

The Rihan glanced at the TiQ and then at the security key. “Jared, are you able to get that key and release my restraints?”

Jared rolled over near the key, with his back towards it. After a moment his tail slid lithely out of the bonds around his legs - unlike his hands and feet, the tail had no mass at the end for the bonds to restrict - just a deceptive tuft.

Hay'legh watched as Jared scooped up the key with his tail and passed it to his hands, behind his back. She hadn't realised it was quite that prehensile. Normally Jared's tail didn't seem to DO anything.

A moment later there was a click, and his hands were free. He quickly got to work on his legs and feet.

Hay’Legh held her bound hands out behind her and waited for Jared to use the key to unlock her restraints.

Click!

Once her hands were free she took the key and unlocked her leg cuffs.

“Now Jared, as soon as you see that door unlock and start to open I want you to be on the other side and help him to jerk it open. I’ll deal with the guard and then we go and find Tell and get off this rust heap.”

"I think I can handle that plan," Jared said with a nod.

At that point footsteps could be heard on the ladder just outside the door.

Hay'Legh quickly pressed herself against the wall by the door opening and waited. Jared took up position opposite.

A moment later the wheel lock that held the hatch closed spun and the door swung inwards.

Jared grabbed the door the moment it began to move. He wasn't particularly strong, but he was working WITH the man's strength, and not against it, and he was pulling with all his might.

As Jared pulled both the door and the man attached to it forward into their cell, Hay'Legh darted behind him. In the blink of an eye Hay'Legh slipped her hands down both sides of his jaw and twisted the mans head, cleanly snapping his neck.

Jared grimaced.

"How very... efficient."

The man didn't even have a chance to cry out. Hay'legh caught him before he hit the deck and lowered him silently down. Unfortunately he was unarmed and carried nothing in the way of useful equipment.

Stepping through the door she found herself in a vertical access tube with four levels. They were in the middle with pairs of doors on each level. The one immediately opposite was airlock sealed and it was obvious that there was no cargo pod attached.

The only way to go is up....She turned back to Jared. "I'll scout out ahead, follow but stay back in case I run into company. On of us need to get out." With that the Rihan turned and leapt up onto the ladder rungs and quickly began to go upwards

Climbing to the top of the ladder, Hay'legh reached the dorsal spine that linked Engineering to the Bridge. She would have to be stealthy to make sure she was not observed since it was almost a direct line of site from one end to the other.

Keeping as low to the deck as possible while still being able to move, Hay'Legh slipped quietly forward but halfway along the spine she stopped as still as a stone when she saw movement coming from the room at the far end. The Rihan felt a tingle go down her spine. The death of the man at the door of their cell had ignited within her a primal urge; one that had scared the ancient vulcans enough to shun emotion, but it was one that the Rihan relished.

Arriving at the final door she could see through to another crewman who was obviously supposed to be monitoring the status of the Cargo pods but was more interested in whatever video feed he had going on one of the many consoles. Hay'legh crouched at the door and considered her options. There was no one else in the room but the man was carrying a side arm.

It was at this moment that a yellow light began to spin and a claxon sounded. The man's head snapped up and he looked straight at Hay'legh.

The man slammed his hand on a button and a computer voice anounced, "Emergency Lockdown Initiated."

The doors all along the corridor began to swing closed as well as the one Hay'legh crouched next to.

There was only one decision to be made. If she was going to be locked in a room, she might as well pick the one containing some of this ships ryak'na [trash]. Getting rid of him will pass the time until whatever security comes down to get her.

She threw herself through the closing entrance and slammed into the man before he could draw his sidearm.

Unfortunately this rushed attack left her a little open. The man brought his knees up hard catching her on the chin and stunning her for a moment. The man pushed her back but she was aware enough to pull his weapon from its holster as she was forced back. Before she was able to get a good aim though he had pressed something on his wrist and vanished in a transporter beam.

Hta`Dva! Hay'Legh gripped the weapon tightly in her hand as she quickly looked around the room. She and Jared had to get out of here.

Moving to the monitors Hay'legh could see armed men moving along the corridors. Then something familiar catches her eye. She shifted slightly along the station to stand in front of a monitor displaying a familiar room.

Hta`Dva! She should have realised the room would be under surveillance . Hay'Legh glanced again at the corridor monitiors before turning back to the cell display. There would be time....in the blink of an eye, the Rihan's fingers flashed over the console, keying in the commands to wipe all the surveillance data from their main computer core for the last twenty-four hours.

It was a small victory that would not help them in the long run but it was still a victory.

Hay'Legh then turned to face the only entrance to the room, phaser in hand and waited for those outside to try and enter - she would make them pay dearly for every inch gained inside this room to get to her.

But after several minutes of quiet Hay'Legh began to wonder what was going on. There should have been someone coming through the door by now. Instead what she saw on the corridor monitors was a group of men just standing and waiting.

Outside Garrett listened to the report of his men. He smiled, "Evacute the atmosphere fo the room. When she is dead dump her and the rat-man into space."

Hay'Legh still stood and waited facing the door, but quickly became aware that she was starting to struggle to breathe. She frowned, and then she abruptly realised what the bastards were up too. They were evacuating the air from the room! And there was nothing she could do about it. So in a fit of pique the Rihan took the phaser and blasted it along the controls of the console. And then Hay'Legh sat in the control chair as she waited for unconsciusness to claim her.

After three minutes her story would have come to an end. Fortunately for her Jared was still outside the room. There was nothign he could do to turn off the pumps or unseal the door, but a carefully placed series of holes in a twisted pipe meant that a small amount of air was able to pump back into the room.

When Gerrat and his team unsealed the room ten minutes later Hay'legh was still unconcious but not dead. Gerrat shook his head in amazement.

"Check the monitors. Find out who let them out."

"No good. She has wiped the record."

Gerrat snarled, "Karla, Rene you do a room by room sweep and find the rat. Shoot him dead and space the body. "

He gestured to the Half Nausican, "Estrach, carry her back to the mess hall. You and the crew can have her to play with. Just make sure she is dead when you finish."

He looked at the last two crewmen in the room, "Nicholai, I know you are not into girls, so I want you to get your med kit and see what you can do for Tell's shoulder. Leah, go and get that pretty dress I bought you on Ubatti. Theresa needs something to wear. I will meet you at the door in ten minutes."

For Leah the message was clear. She was being replaced by this new woman, Tell or Theresa or whatever. Her ride was due to be torn apart form the inside to satisfy the crew's rather graphic tastes. What she couldn't figure out was why the Romulan's last act alive would be to wipe the survelance tapes and hide the fact that leah had given her the key to escape.
