Alligences 1 – The story so far...
by HoD Ro' Matlh
Marie managed to recover all of the crew. Two of the Beq had been stunned, but no serious injuries were inflicted and both rapidly left med bay before HIchop could do more than grunt at them for wasting his time.
Ro’ commended Jared on his resourcefulness, particularly in managing to get up to date schematics and systems analysis of the new Federation warship. None of the crew noticed the Trojan code that had been downloaded in the data stream. A virulent Ferengi code wove itself into the mainframe, waiting only for the right command signal to bring down the entire ship’s computer systems.
The Humans were good to their word. A tractor beam unit was provided Marla integrated it into the EPS systems while Tell bolted it to the hold roof and connected the new coolant systems. She then went on to integrate the water reclamation system to the coolant systems and to her shower. Now she had hot water when the coolant systems were running, but still no way to modify the temperature.
Marie managed to find and recover a number of salvageable (and lucrative) items from the flotsam around the Arcadia. A suspicious person may have noticed that according to the Arcadia’s manifest (recently downloaded by Marie) much of the material was stored in Holds that were not open to space. Exactly how those articles came to be in the FHew’s ever filling hold remains a mystery.
HoS agreed to have the new Federation Replicator installed in the mess hall, provided he didn’t need to use it in any of the cooking. Ro’ agreed it would only be used for creating spare parts and food for visiting diplomats. True, some of the non-Klingon crew would occasionally sneak snacks from it, but never when HoS was around.
The trip back to the stardock was uneventful, despite the power load on the Tractor beam being so large that the FHew could not engage its cloak or use weapons while towing. Even shields were down to 32%. Despite Tell’s best efforts she could not coax any more power out of the system while towing such a large item as the Arcadia.
Mission End
Once it was deposited at the stardock the ship made the return to SB 611, where Marie managed to sell of most of the material they had salvaged and Hay’legh attended a reception for the new Romulan delegate at the station.
The reprise was to be short lived. A matter of hours later a wave of Gorn/Tholian attack cruisers bore down on the station. The FHew and other Klingon vessels in attendance were asked to ferry evacuees back to earth rather than engage the insurmountable enemy. This did not please Ro’ at all and, if it had not been that he personally had to escort Haqtaj Matlh, out he may well have disobeyed orders.
The FHew returned to the site later and again performed a salvage operation, recovering many useful (and lucrative) items, as well as the Medical computer core. They also picked up a shipment of four extra marines. This was an allowance of the High Command, since the FHew was to be in hostile territory away from support of the Empire.
After dropping the Medical Core and Ambassador Haqtaj off at their new base of operations, Federation Deep Space 7, they made for a local, independent trading world where they could seel a number of the salvaged materials that would not get a good price from the Federation.
The Ubatti were Federation, but maintained their own legal and social structure. It is here where the crew were to meet their first major challenge to the crew's alliegence, and find an unexpected ally.
