Operation Tourniquet – The back story
by HoD Ro' Matlh & 2nd Lieutenant Zorc Dat'oxo
The IKC Torg had been assigned to the Q’Tahl for combat exercises. It was a large fleet that was gathered together for non lethal formation practice. Weapons had been modified and disabled and strict restrictions were made to combat practices.
When the Gorn fleet dropped out of warp, the Klingons had little time to prepare. Caught of guard with disabled weapons the fleet was decimated with the initial assault. The order was given for ships that were unable to fight to withdraw to Tengchah 20 to regroup and prepare a proper defence.
While only a tenth of the original fleet made it, this was still more than enough to strain the capabilities of the tiny refit station. The Torg had lost her primary and secondary weapon coils and the Captain had agreed to sacrifice much of the vital parts of the ship to resupply other, larger and more able ships back into the fight. The crew were transferred to the station to support it.
Moral was low. There were few senior officers left. Klingons ships began to arrive to support the defenses in preparation for the Gorn's arrival, but they were few and small; the larger ships had already been dedicated to the Q’Tahl exercise.
Zorc was on the station preparing preparing the few Marines he had left from the Torg when word arrived that the FHew was in orbit and Captain Ro' of House Matlh was still in command. The Fhew was only a B'rel, barely a foot note on the list of ships, but Ro' had two confirmed Galaxy class kills with that little ship.
Commander May'bel of House Matlh was assigned to chief of security of the station. Along with two Aliens, the Chief Science officer and Chief Tactical officer of the FHew. May'bel immediately enlisted the help of Zorc and his men in preparing defences.
IT was a hopeless cause. Once the Gorn breached the station defences they could not be held at bay. The Klingons fell back one rooma nd corridor at a time, but they did fall back. In the end Zorc, May'bel and a handfull of Torg Marines were all that made it back to the command centre.
Dat'oxo had his measured strides that kept his balance and ready prowess to strike even among those that were his ally. The Bat'leth upon his back had seen combat. HE went to the secondary resoiurce board, it would be his duty to make weapons of anything that could be used, even if he could vent plasma out and around them in a cloud to be ignited he felt the small amount of damage might not seem worth it by itself, but with all the other bits of combat worthy defense would whittle down the enemy. Had he the man power he would have ejected the Torpedoes out of air locks with proximity detonators had he the time and resources. But that would not be possible, and with a Tactical officer he decided that there are a few things that would hinder the advance of the enemy.
"I will be blowing the explosive bolts on all exterior hatches and viewports in the most trategic areas the enemy could use for advance with exception being where we can control where they advance." Dat'oxo suggested. "It will appear like damaged areas with caccuum in them so we can protect the areas where there is more of an advancement oppurtunity and whittle them down before we raid their ship." He said with confidence. "We will die facing the enemy or defeat them."
