Operation Tourniquet – Engineering and Repairs
by HoD Ro' Matlh & Soghla' Terri (Tell) Hope
The red glow faded and Tell looked around the transporter room of the Vorcha class NiH'tah. It was still functional, but she could see the power fluctuations playing on the non-essential systems around her. On a Klingon ship almost everything could be considered non-essential for a time.
A Klingon beq appeared at the door and barked in Klingon, "You the Engineer?"
"Soghla' and Chief Engineer. to you" Tell snapped back rising to full height and staring at him squarely in the eye. "Now what seems to be the problem?"
"Everything, sir," the beq responded. "We've burned through the tertiary EPS trying to maintain shields and Warp capability. We took have damage to the port nacells and are venting plasma faster than we can stop the flow. Strutural integrity in the pylon is only about 17%. Life support is gone from all but engineering and the bridge, so what your breathing now is all the air in this section. We dumped most of our spares when our IDF began to fail."
OOC:J: So sorry the muse temporarily left the building.:(
Tell let out a Klingon curse before answering. "Right lets get the repair crews onto the essential repairs. How many crew do we have on board?"
TAG:
"We'll worry about life support in the other areas later. Oxygen masks will have to do in those sections that need repair. We'll have to bypass a few systems to get power to the nacells. I suggest these and these first. Their redundant so it should work." said Tell "Gradually increase the power after all we don't want to blow ourselves up do we?"
TAG:
They had hardly even begun teh repairs when the red alert sounded. A voice called over the Comms.
,'. The Gorn have entered long range sensors. Battle stations. ,'.
The Klingon Engineer next to Tell said, "If you wish to return to your ship you will need to do so, now. We can get you enough power for transport, but not once the fight starts."
"I'll stay" replied the Chief Engineer wiping the sweat from her brow "You'll need all the help you can get."
The engines of the NiH'tah spun up as she pulled away from the station. One of the disadvantages of being in engineering is you saw very little of what was happening outside, only a stream of damage reports. For a while it was strains on the shields and the occasional blown system which was patch-able, rout-able, or ignor-able. That was until...
"Qu'Vatlh!" The engineer near her swore, clinging to the hull as the ship suddenly swung to the side. "Did we just loose the forward half of the ship?"
Glancing at the damage screen he was watching Tell could see that all damage feeds from the front half of the ship had been cut of part the way along the boom. Either they had a faulty comms relay at that point or...
