On The Job Training – Preparing

Ro' addressed the crew an Synic, "Our weapons and systems have been modified to only give and receive simulated damage. Systems will reduce and cut out as if they were being damaged, and will calculate repair times based on the actions of the crew."
"The scenario is simple. We are on a routine patrol of our boarders. At some point in the next hour the USS Prospero will attack us. We defend ourselves and put them out of action. She is bigger than us, tougher than us and more powerful. We have a few tricks up our sleeve, but beq Synic here will be sure that nothing unacceptable is used."
"I have asked for strategies from each of the teams. So far only Tactical has responded with a suggestion of the Picard Maneuver. I will keep a modification of that up my sleeve for a quick play if we can."
"They will expect us to cloak early so will be developing strategies to stop us or track us while cloaked."
"What other suggestions/comments have people got? HIchop, you are first officer. I need a strategy to take advantage of the crewmen's lack of experience."
Hichop replied "Ram them... or at least make it look like that is what we are doing. Then we can use our weapons at close range while they are trying to maneuver away for their weapons to have enough distance without causing damage"
Ro' slapped his shoulder, "Good! Yes, they will expect us to run. A full frontal assault would catch them off guard, and they do not yet have the instincts needed to adjust in time. Changing our strategies often is ideal."
"Jared, they are going to be doing things by the book to impress their instructors. Find me as many off book strategies as we have on record. Why were the old Miranda class phased out? What are their limitations?"
Jared shrugged, "I will look it up."
"Germite, I want you on tactical. I can't risk HoS doing some real damage somehow. Take time to learn about their weapons systems, especially recharge and cool down rates. If we can drain one side of their battery, or find gaps between recharge cycles, I want to know about it. Also any blind spots."
It was a little strange to go from a medic to an interrogator to a gunnery officer, but that was life on a small vessel, you do what has to be done. Gemite nodded. "For Matlh!!!"
"Mike, one of the things this simulation will not do is simulate crew damage or fatigue, and Klingons are not good at 'acting' injured. Casualty reports will be generated automatically, and I want you to inject affected crewmen with some chemical that will impair their function, or knock them out as per the reports."
"That seems to be going beyond what is required of the simulation," Synic interjected.
Ro' turned on him, "Do you have an objection to the action?"
Synic considered for a moment and then inclined his head, "No objection."
Ro' turned back to Mike, "I specify non lethal injections; this is a simulation only."
Ro' turned at last to the newest member of the crew, "You. Everyone on my ship performs a role. What is yours going to be during this exercise?"
The woman just shrugeed. Ro' ground his teeth. This woman would need to find a role soon or find another ship.
"All right stations, everyone!"
