The crew gathered in the briefing room on Deck 2. They had swollen in numbers markedly with the addition of the human pilot, Bruce and the Starfleet Trill, Israna.
Ro' addressed them all, "To bring everyone up to speed, one of our ongoing goals is to eradicate a particular group who call themselves the Corporation. They are a Business that runs in the area of space near where we are posted and they are seditious and insidious. They have tried to buy the loyalty of this ship and crew. Perhaps more troubling is they have access to technology well beyond any species of this era."
"Fortunately," Ro' indicated to the small, slightly fuzzy creature next to him, known as Jared, "we are not without our own resources. Our advanced computer system has managed to trawl the Corporate Database and find the location of one of it's top operatives; an arms trader named Treman. He has an entire facility set up to advertise and market goods on Larbupash IV. It is situated next to a hospital and heavily shielded so we can't bomb it from orbit, or send in strike teams."
"What we have been able to do is get a single invite to his upcoming weapon show. Only one person can go in, and it can't be a Klingon, because they stand out. They also can't carry any weapons. Which will make it difficult because our mission is to kill Treman. A hit on one of their top agents, in his own facility, in front of all the prospective buyers will be a blow to the Corporation they will not soon recover from."
"So here is the plan:"
"Tell, you are to take the invite, buy up whatever you need to look like a socialite arms dealer and infiltrate the the expo."
"Marie, you will be inserted into the catering staff to work taking food from the kitchens out to the clients."
"May'bel, you will assault the main security tower, with Israna's assistance. Once you are there Jared, who will go with you, will access the shield controls and open a small window, just big enough to get a beam in signal through. Israna will remain outside the complex as our eyes and ears on the ground."
"Hichop, Bruce and Germite. You will commandeer an ambulance. Germite will surgically alter HIchop to make him look like he has a serious injury, with a bit of help from Jared's tech to fool simple scans. You will insert HIchop into the hospital, at which point he will move to the wall which adjoins the Expo's kitchens. He will then activate the Transporter beacon he will have with him."
"From a position just outside of the shield, Germite and Bruce will beam weapons down, using the Transporter beacon to deliver them inside the kitchen to Marie. She will then hide them in a covered dish and take them to Tell. Together they will identify and terminate Treman. At that point Bruce and Germite can retrieve them using the transporter lock, then HIchop and return to the ship. Jared, May'bel will meet back with Israna and make their own way back as well."
"In and out. Linx and I will remain on the ship to observe and deal with any 'surprises'. Questions? Good. We arrive in three hours. Go get prepared!"
Israna walked quickly down the hallway to the weapon locker to take out her weapons: her sniper rifle, extra ammo, her KaBar knife and holster. She noticed other weapons in the rack. Pistols. Lots and lots of pistols. At the back there was a long sword that looked Klingon made.
'Think I better stick with my knife', thought Israna. She holstered her rifle on her back and walked out of the weapons locker, back towards the rest of the crew.
Marie gave Tell a look which said Here we go with another of ‘Ro’s harebrained schemes. She was going in without weapons which never made for good vibes. Still, it meant she had nothing to do to prepare herself. “I think now’s a good time for that shopping trip you’ve been promising yourself.” She took Tell’s hand. “Come on, let’s go spend lots of ‘Ro’s money before he changes his mind.”
Tell thought she would rather stay on the ship but she knew better than to say so. It was a good excuse to spend some money that wasn't her own. But she did wonder if they were asking for trouble like they always seem to do.
"Why not." Tell smirked "Think I might have a drink before I start, shopping is hard work you know."
Israna watched as Marie and Tell walked off the get a drink, followed them slightly, then broke off and walked towards the mess hall.
