Marie's Mind – Home and hosed

Red light and heat washed over Marie again, joined by the familiar musty smell that announced to Marie that the transporter beam had deposited her once more in the FHew hold. Next to her were large crates and the imposing figure of May'bel, re-holstering his disruptor. Tell and jaqwI' stepped forward eagerly and grabbed the smaller of the crates, marked as spare parts. As they began to haul these off, Hichop stepped up to the platform wearing the large suit of armour that had been taken from Miletus. It had been re-purposed as a form of power loader and now handled the large crates loaded with Photon torpedoes with ease.
Activity washed around Marie as if it were all a normal part of life, as if she hadn't been somehow split between realities, as if… well, as if she was not the most important thing in the universe.
The suit felt good. Hichop was happy to just use it. Cargo loading and unloading was far from its purpose but he was still in the suit. There had been a number of times he just wanted to get into it and jump on the enemy from space. But it lacked the fire power to make a difference in battle. But there was something very comfortable about the suit and he wore it like a second skin. But what he enjoyed most was the feedback of the previous wearer. Hichop seemed to one of only a few crew members who were mastering the ability to hear the voices without being overwhelmed by them. The person who had worn this suit was a honourable and courageous warrior and each time his story when through Hichop's mind he felt more confident and sure of himself. It had changed him.
Well the hold looked and smelled a lot better than it did when all the mud had been floating around it. The only thing that the mud didn't come off was Tell's clothes. She had replicated a new uniform but had also added a few extra nips and tucks of her own. The overall effect was very pleasing to the eye.
Crates, crates and more crates. Packed inside them was an engineers dream. There was enough here to keep her happy for months and months in engineering. She had enough duct tape to keep the old bucket of bolts going for a few more years yet. But most of all the thing she was really looking forward to was upgrading the shower in her room. The new computer had certainly been very helpful with that.
It was a happy engineer who trundled back to engineering trying not to smile. She had what she wanted including a few personal extras that included her favourite coffee , a supply of Rivellian chocolate and a new toothbrush. But she had a reputation to uphold and smiling and looking cheerful wasn't a part of it.
Marie felt an urgent need to talk to someone and only one person fitted the bill: Tell. The engineer appeared to be in a good mood so Marie quickly followed her out of the cargo bay. Tell was making for their quarters so Marie hung back a bit. What she needed to discuss was far better done in private; out here in the open for anyone to hear could see Marie locked away for good.
