Foreseeable future – Hidden future
by HoD Ro' Matlh & Sogh Marla Varquis
The cloak room was a wash in smoke and bathed in emergency red lighting. Marla rushed from control to control trying to stabilise the flow of plasma. there was not enough energy to run shields and cloak, unless you manually maintained a clean line and had an emergency generator such as the one Jarred had linked up.
The flow was not stable though. The extra generator was not in the FHew specifics and the Borg upgrades were finding it difficult to work with the surplus of power. The constant weapons fire was not helping.
Ro's voice could be heard bellowing from the Bridge, "Marla. I need that cloak!"
Marla reached to re-initialise the cloak field when there was a sudden shake of the ship and the panel erupted in a flash that dropped Marla on her back.
For a moment she just lay there with her eyes tight closed waiting for the red after glow to fade. She felt heat on her, which meant radiation. She also felt someone shaking her.
"Mum?"
Marla opened her eyes.
First thing she saw was a blue sky. Then she was aware of the breeze around her. She was outside and there was someone with her. The woman was mostly human, in her late forties, but had an odd green tinge to her skin and a vestigial forehead crest. Her face was concerned.
"You okay, Mum?" she asked Marla. "You were calling out in your sleep again."
