Re-born – Training
by Ensign Jason Hawk & HoD Ro' Matlh
Jason walked into the room that was temporarily serving as Ro's office. "HoD may I have a word?" He asked respectfully.
Until the FHew was ready to be re-occupied, Ro' had been put up in the administration building of the Matlh base. He was sorting through his old chest that had been brought up form his ship. He held a picture in his hands. It showed the FHew in a fight with the USS Jericho. He had all but destroyed it that day. Apparently the bridge crew were all killed, except for young ensign Drake.
Perhaps he should give the picture to now Captain Drake. Then again, he might miss-understand the gesture.
He looked up at the human at the door. He had tried, placing Klingon insignia over his replacement Starfleet uniform. He still smelled of soap, though.
"Let me guess, Ensign Hawk," he said placing the picture carefully to one side. "You've had enough of the Klingon way of life and want to be transferred back to a Federation ship. Request denied."
"No sir, I came to ask you to help train me. As skilled as I am, I need to be better.... I realized during the fight that, though I was more skilled than some of them, I am not as good as I should be." Jason absent mindedly rubbed his chest where the scar from the Andorian's Ushaan-Tor was.
"I realize sir, we didn't get ff to the best of starts what with me crashing your ship and accidentally challenging you in front of the crew, but I hope I can salvage your opinion of me."
Ro' turned, not hiding his surprise, "Well, it seems you have found the juvuv I spoke to you of last time. Why come to me? There are many people here who you could learn from. Thor'nan, May'bel, Cha'a..."
"With all due respect to the others, You are undeniably the best most skilled, most experienced warrior around. If I am to learn from someone I would prefer to be trained by the best."
"Tell came to me, as part of signing on. She would fix the engines and I would teach her to fight. She was scared by someone in her past finding her. They did. She killed them. We have not trained since."
"I don't think that'll happen in my case sir, the only person I have to prove my abilities to is myself. And unless you know of a way to destroy every Borg and Jem'Hadar in the universe I don't think I'll ever be done training."
Ro's eyes flashed, "A blood feud? Now I see the fire that burns within you. ToH! And to train with me is a good ambition to have. I will set you this challenge first. Choose a Sogh to fight. You do not need to win, only for them to accept you are ready to train with me. If you manage that, then do the same with one of the three Soghla'. again you need not win, only gain their acceptance that you may train under me. This is the proper order of things. Once this is done, I will train you. Is that acceptable?"
"Yes sir." Jason said as his mind already trying to pick out who he wanted to fight. May'bel, Marie or Thor'nan. {Who do I fight? I think I'll watch them for a couple days and figure out who is worth fighting. I know I don't need to win but if I can I will.} "Is there anything else HoD?" Jason asked respectfully.
Ro' tried to suppress a smile, "Yes. Teach Marie how to fly. When you die she will be in the pilots chair again. HIghos. Go!"
