Ro's laughter was cut short by a new voice that rang across the battle field.
"Ro', Son of HaqwI', Brother of Matlh! You have killed, CoQ, Son of Matlh, in battle. I challenge your right to lead House Matlh!"
All eyes turned to the source of the voice. Beq YIghegh Matlh, barely able to stand, swayed on the spot pointing his unsteady finger towards his Captain.
Marie sighed in exasperation. She turned to Tell. "What is it with these Klingons? They've just had a battle to keep their violence addiction satiated for months and here's an idiot who can barely stand wanting to challenge Matlh. Matlh who just took out CoQ single-handedly, I might add."
Jason was shocked. "He is in charge of the house now, CoQ was unfit to lead the house and he admitted that. HoD Ro' is in charge. But, if you want to die then by all means challenge him."
"There is just no pleasing them. You give them what they want and then they want more." Tell unsheathed a blade and run her finger along its fine sharp edge. "Want me to take him out?"
Marla shook her head. She understood why her people would keep doing this, but he was barely able to stand, and to her this was not a smart idea, but then again, Klingons were never known for being smart. Then again, he might have something hidden in his sleeve.
Thor'nan remained silent, but knelt down and wiped the blood off his blades on the shirt of his last victim. His blades were sated, but one more taste couldn't hurt.
Ro' considered YIghegh carefully. The young warrior had been knocked unconscious in the crash and unable to take part of the fight. It was obvious to everyone that he could barely lift a blade, let alone fight. He could not possibly hope to survive this challenge. And yet...
The challenge had been formally given, but not in Klingon.
"WoQna'vaD Daghaj qaDlIj'e' nuq," He asked in a formal response. [By what authority do you issue this challenge.]
"I am YIghegh, son of loDni', Grandson of Matlh. CoQ was my Uncle. With him gone direct line for House Matlh falls to the next male in the line under Matlh, not to his brother. I am that male heir. the right and honour is mine."
Ro's eyes narrowed. It was a minor technicality but it had been given in Human, not Klingon. YIghegh was not talking to him, or the Klingons. He must know that the crew of the FHew would cut him down, even if Ro' did not. Either YIghegh had a death wish or...
Ro' began to grin.
...or his great nephew understood Ro' very well. If Ro' were to be Head of House Matlh, he would need to sit on the council and give up his command of the FHew. His only way out was for another form the house to stake a claim and for Ro' to acknowledge the claim.
Ro' began to laugh. He knelt before YIghegh and presented his d'h'tagh handle to him, "ToH! I recognise your right as true leader of the House. I pledge allegiance to YIghegh, son of loDni', Grandson of Matlh. Qochbe'!"
The courtyard erupted in a cry from every Klingon's throat, "Qochbe'!"
YIghegh placed his hand on the knife handle and passed it back to Ro', "As my first command, we will repair the FHew. Soghla' Tell will give the specifications, and HoD Ro' will oversea the work."
OOC: And so we leave series on of the FHew, Season 2 will start soon, with posts set on this dead end red world. I would like to give people a bit of time for some interaction and dealing with the new order. How about some personal logs?
YIghegh will be leaving the FHew so there will be room for new NPCs. Also if you have a particular design addition you want to see in the ship (such as a shower in EVERY room) then now is the time to put forward the proposal.
Now is a good time to make suggestions for plot lines in the next series. As you know we tend to focus a lot on the people on this ship more than just action and adventure.
