Things were exploding all over the bridge. May'Bel leapt out of the helm chair, and moments later was standing over Hawk. He saw in a glance that the Starfleet Ensign was still conscious, and grabbed him by the front of the uniform.
Hawk wasn't a light man - he was 6' and solidly built. But May'Bel was all wiry muscle. Hawk found himself lifted to his feet, and then firmly plunked back in the pilot's chair.
"The Captain seems to like you, human! That or he thinks we need you! Either way, now would be an EXCELLENT time to be good at what you do!"
"Weapons systems down!" Thor'nan yelled out over the noise.
"Engineering reports you have 5-6 seconds of Warp 2 to get us to the planet."
"You should be holding on." Jason yelled over the noise. Jasons' hands flew across the helm as he took the FHew to warp then brought them out 6 seconds later and immediately started cycling what was left of the RCS thrusters and what little power he could get from the IDF fields.
The crew abandoned all non-essential stations, focusing on putting out fires and sealing breaches. It was an uphill fight, but the Klingons were stubborn, and to fail meant death.
Jason felt a small kick as the warp core ejected. "We lost the warp core." Jason stated the obvious then started taking power from every available system.
There wasn't much. Life support throughout the ship went down. The only air left was what was already in the room, but it would not mater if the ship could not correct its angle of decent.
He managed to slow them enough so they wouldn't necessarily die but they would crash, there was no stopping that fact. The ship began to judder as she hit the outer atmosphere. A screaming noise could be heard as damaged heat shield tiles began to ear off the Hull. The starboard wing, hardest hit in the fight, began to smoke, and then flame. The struts supporting the Bridge roof began to flex.
"We're loosing her!" Someone yelled.
Through the front screen the ground was approaching alarmingly fast. Jason was doing everything he could to get the nose up. One of the rear landing struts wouldn't open. He shook his head and just gripped on. There was only one thing for it now.
When the belly of the FHew hit the ground the entire ship jerked, throwing any person or thing not securely braced sailing through the air. The ship hopped into the air again and landed a second time, then a third like a stone skipping on a pond. Each jerk yanked and hurled things around the ship. Pipes broke and spewed raw plasma. The water storage system emptied itself in their wake. The live food in the top deck panicked and died as the Targs, mad with fear, dug at each other and anything else.
Finally the ship planted in the ground and began the slow deceleration through friction. The noise was near unbearable and the shaking enough to convince the crew the ship would simply fly apart at any moment. Eventually however she ground to a stop, rolling slightly to her port side and resting on the ground, a broken and burnt form.
Once they had stopped Jason turned around. "Are we all still here?"
"I'm alive. " said Thor'nan. He picked up his disrpuptor off the deck and put it in the holster. Then he began checking around his body for injuries.
Ro' reappeared through the gloom, "It looks like we have lost almost all power. The only thing that seems to be working is the light in the Hold. Secure the stations. I don't think she will be going anywhere soon. You have one hour to salvage any personal items, then we will head out. We will see if this planet has anything we can use for repairs. When someone sees Marie, tell her we need a list of things we can sell for the parts we need. It had better be a long list, to.
