Calling Home
Thor'nan sat at a data terminal. He'd recieved the Captain's permission to call his wife and inform him of the change in career.
His wife answered.
"Hello, husband. " she said, smiling. She missed him.
"My wife. How goes motherhood? " he asked. She was used to him being gone for long periods; such was a warrior's life. At least his father allowed them to remain in his house.
"Your children are well. They are growing. " she said.
"I am no longer employed by "the targ"" he said.
"Oh? " she asked, arching an eyebrow.
"He picked a fight with the crew of a scout ship. He lost a blood match. I was asked if I would like to join the crew, because I fought honorably even though my employer was dishonorable. " said Thor'nan.
Enara sighed.
"You did not like working for that PeTaq anyway. But he paid well. " she said.
"This crew will pay me well enough, wife. And I doubt I will be bored here. I will make us rich with honor as well as latinum. " said Thor'nan.
"I wait for the day when we will be able to retire and leave Qo'nos. " she said.
"As do I. But for now we must continue. " he said.
She nodded. She loved the human who had removed her chains as a slave and made her his wife. And she loved the two sons he had given her.
"I must go for now, wife. Be well in my absence, and raise our children well. " he said.
"Be safe, husband. " she said.
