Blood Reckoning – Marie finds a mark
by HoD Ro' Matlh & Soghla' Marie St. Helene
This place was virgin territory for Marie so, following her usual procedure, she headed for the nearest market place and began asking questions. It's usually not difficult to find an assassin for hire, all you have to do is ask and look like you mean business. You also have to have a plausible reason handy for wanting to hire an assassin. Marie had been down this road often enough to play the part convincingly. Not having a name actually helped because she could sift through the likely candidates.
You also need to have other business which gives you a reason for being in the marketplace. Asking about assassins can bring you to the attention of the local authorities very quickly and that's not usually a wise move – unless the authorities are the assassins as well, of course.
Then you have to have some place handy where you can talk without being overheard. It also helps if you have access to a secure channel.
=^=St. Helene to Ro'. I'm off to see a Bregit merchant who has branched out into the real estate business. He is handling the property Jare used to own. It has come onto the market with unseemly haste. Looks like someone wants to move it very quickly. It might be why Jare was killed. Word has it that a Klingon by the name of TorvaD is the front runner to purchase it. He has the wherewithal to buy in as a job lot. The Bregit is due to make a shipment to TorvaD's place this afternoon. It's probably a cover for negotiations. I'm going to get details of the front entrance. I don't envisage any problems.=^=
,'. Ro' here. Send me the address. I will head down to the Administration Council and see if I can get a floor plan so we can prepare our offencive. Check with Marla to see if she knows of this TorvaD. Even the name leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Good work, Sogh. ,'.
Marie downloaded the required data to Ro'. =^=I'll contact Marla now. Have fun with TorvaD. By the way, the Bregit is known in local circles as nIH'wI. From my limited knowledge of Klingon that translates as 'thief' or 'someone who steals'. From what I gather of the slime, it pretty well sums him up. Should be an interesting encounter.=^=
