In the belly of the Whale – Brain teaser
by Soghla' Marie St. Helene
Marie stared at the components for a third time. It was like trying to assemble an intricate 3D jigsaw puzzle with no picture. No matter how she pushed and pulled at components, they steadfastly refused to come together. She considered calling in assistance but both Jared and Hay’legh would be busy with their own tasks; she could tell from the buffeting that the F’Hew was still under attack.
She was holding two pieces of the puzzle, trying to work out how they fitted in when the ship was hit by a particularly nasty blow. She picked herself up off the floor to discover that...two pieces were now one! She stared at them open mouthed.
Take your time. Use your brain! She studied the piece. Yes! She could see how it went together. She found two similar pieces and, sure enough, she could put them together too. Slowly the disparate whole took shape.
Now for the simple part, to work out what its function is.
